News of the Fair Literal Barcelona

Radically happy

REstem d’aniversari! Això no funcionarà. O potser sí. I amb tot això a l’esquena, vam decidir tirar endavant.

A project, a small team, much desire. A small space, a big dream. The first year the fair filled almost a weekend full of programming, and the Espai Bota. It was a weekend full of music and books, with the crowded space of people... And a single beer shooter, but above all, it was a demonstration of what could become if we were proposing it. We say this in plural, but we write this the first year we only came from the public. At the same Time, we learned that Sant Andreu would be an independent edition fair and we decided to get closer to it. And he had very good face, and the editorials and books there were perhaps were not easy to find otherwise, and the activities were well thought of; Hopefully it lasts.

The second year we had an active participation at the fair. Among other reasons, because the fair had grown: in a year, the spaces, the participating publishers, the programming, and the beer shooters had multiplied. Probably the energy of the first year allowed us to embark on the madness of all the enclosure of Fabra I Coats. It becomes difficult to explain to those who have not seen growth as an empowerment is to see the central corridor occupied by a market of the book that continues to grow. The second year was also the year we counted with Svetlana Aleksiévich, and it is evident that the participation of an author awarded with the Nobel Prize in literature helped us to position ourselves mediatically. And that year, media push on the back, and especially with the publishers supporting us, the fair grew.

The third year for us, we write this article, it was the magical year.

And the following year, the previous edition of the Fair, La Carbonera was already part of the organisation of the Fair. And what a joy, to do so.

The fair has not ceased to grow, and the speakers invited to drag more and more public, which makes us happy.

Because if you have the entire book market – despite the rain – we like it, having simultaneous activities with full seating we enjoy even more.

But in fact, why should we hide it?

Perhaps because we have learnt, over the years, that one of the most radical ideas we can have is that we want to enjoy the work we do, and prepare the fair to share it with you for the fifth time makes us feel radically happy.
